THE GOOD NEWS:

President Paul Kagame allowed his officials to say the truth about Rwanda’s economic performance in past 4 years – it is a disaster. Here is the summary as shown at the 2017 Leadership Retreat:

The regime concedes that whether it is GDP in general, agriculture, industry, or services, performance was mediocre:

“In agriculture, productivity, use of improved seeds, quality of livestock, plant disease control, have not improved enough…manufacturing remained stagnant…In services, growth in hotels and restaurants services was disappointing at below 5% reflecting challenges in quality of services and low spending per tourist…”

THE BAD NEWS

There are unconfirmed reports that the leadership of Crystal Ventures Ltd – CEO James Gatera and COO Elias Baingana – are not at the retreat. Reports say these two are under house arrest. As we know, whoever enters Crystal Ventures barely survives a couple of years. Stay tuned…
