At the Terminal 2, Fort Lauderdale-Hoollywood International Airport/ Florida, a gunman, Santiago, on a Delta flight from Alaska opened fire randomly into a crowd. 5 were dead and at least 8 injured. According to the Broward County Sheriff, Scott Israel, the suspect is in custody, no possibility to confirm whether he belongs to an organized criminal group, or operating on his own. In a briefing to the press, he concluded that it was too early to release the names of the dead and asked to remain together while the investigation goes on.
The Governor of the State of Florida, Rick Scott, arrives on the Airport to brief also the press, and especially to note himself what resources are needed to conduct that operation. He repeatedly asked the press community not to associate that terrible act with politics.
Is it an Islamist attack, or an isolated criminal act individually conducted? FBI is interrogating the suspect. We will learn more.
